چکیده

This paper introduces some experimental data measured from 63 impact tests of pre−stressed strand cables. The test specimens consist seven steel wires that have a length equivalent to 100 times the outside diameter. To ensure consistency with engineering service status, cables are fully installed in specially designed device and axially pre−stretched 0% 40% ultimate bearing capacity before being subjected lateral impact. mass indenter is 50.34 kg, maximum velocity reaches 13 m/s. Two dimensionless variables, axial force input kinetic energy, used control parameters. recorded show energy pre−stress level key factors governing behavior, which mainly characterized by plastic deformation controlled combination tension flexure, dynamic fracture concentrated zone joint effects compression, shear. As increases, mode specimen changes elastic rebound deformation, finally evolves into or all wires, correspond slight, partial total loss pre−tension, respectively. An increase will significantly reduce critical displacement structural failure but has little effect on energy. present provides basic mechanical analysis framework for analysis, design evaluation behavior strands under accidental

The Effects of Initial In-Plane Loads on the Response of Composite-Sandwich Plates Subjected to Low Velocity Impact: Using a New Systematic Iterative Analytical Process

A new systematic iterative analytical procedure is presented to predict the dynamic response of composite sandwich plates subjected to low-velocity impact phenomenon with/without initial in-plane forces. In this method, the interaction between indenter and sandwich panel is modeled with considering the exponential equation similar to the Hertzian contact law and using the principle of minimum p...

Experimental and analytical investigation of dynamic crack patterns in automotive windshield sheets subjected to low velocity impact

Off-road cars’ windshields are vulnerable to different types of stones, road debris and pebbles due to common off paved and gravel surfaces in which they drive. Any attempt to design windshield that minimizes injury and death of occupants during a vehicle accident requires a thorough understanding of the mechanical behavior of automotive windshield subjected to foreign object impact loads...

Experimental and Numerical Investigations of Textile Hybrid Composites Subjected to Low Velocity Impact Loadings

In the present study experimental and numerical investigations were carried out to predict the low velocity impact response of four symmetric configurations: 10 ply E Glass, 10 ply AS4 Carbon, and two Hybrid combinations with 1 and 2 outer plies of E Glass and 8 and 6 inner plies of Carbon. All numerical investigations were performed using commercial finite element software, LS-DYNA. The test c...

A Numerical Study on Aluminum Plate Response under Low Velocity Impact

In the present paper, a numerical study is performed to investigate the response of different plates aluminum alloys subjected to low velocity impact condition. In this regard, the square AA5083-H116 aluminum plates with dimensions 300×300 and 3 mm and 5 mm thick under low velocity impact are modelled, and a mesh convergence study is carried out to decide the appropriate number of elements. In ...

Sensitivity analysis of low-velocity impact response of laminated plates

We analyze the sensitivity to values of material parameters, layer thickness and impact speed of the plate deflection, the contact force between the impactor and the plate, the maximum length of a crack, and the energy dissipated during the low velocity impact at normal incidence of a clamped rectangular laminate by a rigid hemispherical-nosed cylinder. The laminate is comprised of layers of po...
